A Precise Measurement of the $\tau$ Polarisation at LEP-1

The $\tau$ polarisation has been studied with the ${\rm e^+e^-}\to \tau^+\tau^-$ data collected by the DELPHI detector at LEP in 1993, 1994 and 1995 around the Z resonance firstly through the exclusive decay channels ${\rm e}\nu\bar{\nu}$ , $\mu\nu\bar{\nu}$ , $\pi\nu$ , $\rho\nu$ and ${\rm a}_1\nu$ and secondly with an inclusive hadronic analysis which benefits from a higher efficiency and a better systematic precision. The results have been combined with those previously published on 1990 to 1992 DELPHI data, to produce results which reflect the full LEP-1 statistics. In the course of a long digression within his famous inspection of Plato’s political philosophy, Karl Popper (1945: 121) argues that “the problem of politics” is the following: “How can we so organize political institutions that bad or incompetent rulers can be prevented from doing too much damage?” Popper’s answer is: “the theory of checks and balances”, which he defines as the striving to establish “institutional control of the rulers by balancing their powers against other powers” (122). W artykule przedstawiono zarys działalności redakcji czasopisma „Społeczeństwo Otwarte”, wydawanego w latach 1990-1998. Jedynego w owym czasie w kraju, starającego się zagospodarować ten obszar znaczeń, który w polskiej szkole i edukacji realizowanej przez nauczycieli należało łączyć z demokracją, formacją obywatela i nauką o społeczeństwie. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy miesięcznika przybliżono wybrane treści wiążące się z problematyką wychowania obywatelskiego, demokracją, ładem społecznym i samorządnością.
